Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair. Picture the riders in the Tour de France who competed for years and didn’t take drugs. They trained hard and were competitive but never really stood a chance of winning. Or even in cricket, Olympics and sometimes business. If someone is cheating, it can make it impossible to win sometimes. But still there are those that refuse to cheat; and they are still in the winners mix. Sometimes they can even beat the cheats.
It can be tough to keep trying when others use an unfair advantage. But for some, integrity is more important than winning. It is genuinely galling to see people that lie, cheat or deceive still pretending to be winning by pure skill and fair play. It sometimes takes years to expose the truth and recognise the true winners, such as occurred with Lance Armstrong’s long reign through cheating. Then there are those who get exposed but have the front and arrogance to accept awards that coincide with their dishonesty, as is the case with the current “#1 Agent in Australia”.
Still, life isn’t always fair but competing and winning against cheats in whatever field makes winning all the more satisfying. And all that do so can hold their heads up high. Here’s cheers to the honest winners. The Real Winners.
